Carlotta Barkhau

PhD student

Carlotta studied mathematics in Münster from 2015 to 2021. During her master’s thesis at the Institute for Biomagnetism and Biosignal Analysis at the UKM, she started to research in the field of mathematical models for brain science. Since 2021, she has been employed at the Institute of Translational Psychiatry in the Medical Machine Learning Lab. Here, she is currently working on Virtual Brains – this approach presents a way to simulate individual brain dynamics with the help of mathematical models. Her research interests lie in exploring how mathematical models can provide insights into individual conditions and how to enhance machine learning algorithms with the newfound knowledge.
