ReMap: Remote Monitoring in Psychiatry
Together with Prof. Dr. Nils Opel from the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Jena University Hospital, we aim to advance mental health research and improve the lives of individuals with mental disorders. We acknowledge the significant impact of mental health challenges on individuals, families, and society. Therefore, we strive to innovate the field of mental health research by utilizing state-of-the-art technology.
Our motivation is based on the idea that traditional methods of studying mental health may not fully capture the complexities of real-life experiences. ReMAP’s innovative approach, which uses Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) and mobile sensing, enables individuals to actively participate in research while carrying out their daily activities. The aim of the research project ReMAP is to provide valuable insights into the dynamic nature of mental health, which can enable researchers to develop more effective interventions and treatments. The ultimate goal is to create a world where mental health is better understood, stigma is reduced, and individuals receive the support they need to lead healthier and happier lives.
Research Project
The ongoing research project at ReMAP is contributing significantly to the field of mental health investigation. Over the past four years, our smartphone application has successfully built a community of over 1500 participants who have generously contributed their data and experiences to our research. Through the combination of real-time self-reporting and objective data collection, our research project is gaining a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between human behavior and mental health.
Our aim is to develop innovative approaches to mental health research, surpassing the constraints of traditional studies. We continuously collect and analyze data to reveal the causes, patterns and fluctuations of mental disorders, providing a comprehensive view that has been difficult to achieve otherwise. With this in mind, we hope to contribute to the advancement of mental health research. ReMAP’s research project aims to improve mental health support by tailoring it to individual needs, ensuring its effectiveness, and increasing accessibility for all.
